Thermopad

The Thermopad®(Patent # 5,332,981) is a totally passive, surface mountable temperature variable attenuator. It requires no bias or control voltages and
does not generate distortion. The Thermopad?can be used in place of a standard chip attenuator to combine level setting or buffering and temperature compensation in a single chip design. This will reduce component count, increase reliability, and lower costs.

 





Attenuators

EMC Technology's attenuators are available in a low power chip package. The input power ratings range from 0.1 to 20 watts. The attenuation values range from 0 dB to 20 dB. The terminals of EMC chip attenuators are made with thick film base material that is nickel plated and solder coated (Lead free version are available). The resistive element is thin film offering superior electrical performance. The TS04 series uses thick film resistor elements. The devices are available for shipping in tray, bulk, waffle or tape and reel packaging.

 





Resistors

EMC Technology offers low and high power RF resistors including surface mount, rod, and flange mounted. These resistors are available with Alumina, ALN, Beo and CVD substrate material. Choose from a variety of metalization finishes for easy mounting to a heat sink or directly to the board. Lead free RoHS compliant finish plating, solder finish with SN63, or solder fused finish with SN63 versions are available. Select from bulk, tape and reel, or waffle packaging.

 





Termination

EMC Technology is the world’s premier manufacturer of surface mount, chip, and pill terminations. EMC invented the original pill termination (patent 3,354,412) and holds the patent for the asymmetrical surface mount termination (patent 5,739,743), allowing for improved power handling capabilities. EMC also offers small 0402 and 0505 size full ground plane terminations with alumina, AlN and BeO type substrates.

 



Equalizers

The equalizer is a passive broadband device that compensates for variations over frequency. EMC offers three (3) types of equalizers. The CE is a fixed slope chip equalizer which compensates for a known amount attenuation variation over frequency. The TVE combines the fixed frequency equalization
of the CE chip equalizer and temperature compensation effects of the popular Thermopad into a single passive chip design. The TFE chip device is unique in that it can offer multiple temperature compensation slopes at various hot and cold temperatures combined with frequency equalization optimized for a
specific RF performance. Hyperbolic compensation curves are available upon request. The CE and TVE equalizers are also available in a SMA plug to SMA jack coaxial body. The EMC Technology equalizer operates from 2 to 18 GHz over a wide temperature range from -55 deg C to +125 deg C. The equalizer
can be customized for specific frequency and/or temperature compensation requirements.



Smart Load

EMC Technology's Smart Load®(Patent # 5,953,811 and 6,147,481) Power Sensing Terminations provide a single chip solution for measuring True RMS
RF power. Smart Load?responds to the heating effects of RF power and is ideal for amplifier, satellite, base station, BITE, and other microwave circuit applications.
